City Impact Scheels Gym and Fitness Center

Dealers across the country often participate in projects to help improve their community. Earlier this year, Scheels was a major donor with a $500,000 donation for the City Impact Scheels Gym and Fitness Center in northeast Lincoln, Nebraska. IPI by Bison partnered with City Impact to design the gym and graphic padding while IPI by Bison dealer Sport Construction Midwest handled the installation.

City Impact, a non-profit organization, empowers under-resourced communities through wholistic youth, family, and neighborhood development. City Impact aspires to be the best in the world at seeing, investing in, and encouraging the unique strength of under-resourced youth and families so their leadership makes a lasting positive impact within their communities.

The new 5,000 square foot facility is an elementary sized gym at the City Impact facilities, dedicated to promoting health and fitness in the community. It has a basketball and volleyball court as well as space for fitness classes to be held. In addition, it has fitness equipment such as treadmills, ellipticals, free weights, weight machines and more. They are scheduling a variety of classes for youth.

“We want to say thank you for all of IPI by Bison’s contributions including the gym equipment, graphic padding, bleachers, scoreboard, and installation, which was vital for us to finish this project debt free,” said Brad Bryan, City Impact founder. “We are so grateful for our community coming together to support efforts like the Scheels Gym & Fitness Center at City Impact.”

In addition to being a resource for fitness activities, they plan to use it as a place to mentor, teach, and empower young people. Programming is focused on introducing kids and their families in the as well as healthy living. City Impact celebrated the opening of the gym in April with a community open house and has already started maximizing the new space to develop fitness and wellness programs for the community.

“We are seeing weekly club activities and classes in the gym as well as and regular access for mentor pairs and residents in our 14 affordable housing units,” Bryan said. “We also have collaborative partners offering sports clinics, use for neighborhood team practices, and community health and nutrition classes.”

“Nick Cusick and the whole Bison group has been very generous within the Lincoln community which makes it an honor for our company to be associated with them,” Bryan Jansen, Owner, Sport Construction Midwest.
